“The sex drive of men is something we are all comfortable with in this country. It’s funny and hormonal and slapstick (American Pie), it’s potentially uncontrollable, maniacal/homicidal (American Psycho), it is adulterous and is insatiable (American Beauty), it is fun and social (American Graffiti) and it is entrepreneurial (American Gigolo). But women? No. NC-17. XXXX. Stop it with the moaning.”— riese (via genevievemcguckin)
My thoughts on Star Trek Into
DarknessWhiteness summed up by this gif set.Preach, John Cho.
I’m totally not here for Star Trek becoming -less- progressive over time.
Donald Glover talking about the comments he received during his campaign to be the next Spider-Man (x)
“I was talking about it with Dan Eckman, who directed my Bonfire video. Can you imagine that trailer? That would be dope. Like it makes sense… a poor black kid in Queens. Like it just fits.”:( This is breaking my heart.

That shit skates.
“If I were to create a rating system, I wouldn’t even put murder at the top of chief offenses. I would put rape at the top of chief offenses. Because it is so overused and insulting how much it is overused in movies as plot devices. That to me is offensive, yet that shit skates.”
“Only 5% of all movie directors in Hollywood are female”
“So? Does that mean it’s discrimination or are men just naturally better directors?”
Are you fucking kidding me
“What’s most profoundly wrong is the terrible, mean-spirited scripts that are getting made, that are making people feel justified in using “rom-com” as an eye-rolling insult, and we’ve got to stop that first. Stop saying “chick flick” like it’s “pile of rotten meat,” and stop saying “chick lit” and “chick book” and “chick movie” and anything else that suggests that love stories are less than war stories, or that stories that end with kissing are inherently inferior to stories that end with people getting shot. Or, if you believe they are and you want to continue believing that they are, stop pretending you’re open to romantic comedies getting better.”— Are Romantic Comedies Dead? | NPR (via lamamama)
It’s a big day for pint-sized star Quvenzhané Wallis. Hours before the “Beasts of the Southern Wild” breakout hits up the Academy Awards ceremony in support of her Best Actress nomination, Columbia Pictures today confirmed the actress is confirmed to play the titular role in their contemporary remake of “Annie.”
I’m so incredibly excited about this. I was obsessed with Annie when I was younger and was even in a production of the musical. I can’t wait to see a Black Annie on the big screen.
